Learn about resizing images for print with Photoshop! You’ll learn how print size functions, just how (and if ) to enlarge your photos, the way to resize for different frame sizes, and also ways to get the best quality prints each time! In this tutorial, the third in my series on image dimensions, I will show you how easy it is to resize an image for print with Photoshop! Resizing for printing is different from resizing for the internet or for screen viewing. That is because there’s usually no requirement to change the amount of pixels from the picture. Nearly all of the digital cameras capture images which are already big enough to print at standard frame dimensions, such as 8 x 10 or 11 x 14, and receive excellent results. So instead of changing the amount of pixels, all we will need to do is alter the printing size. And as we will see, we change the print dimensions by simply altering the photo’s resolution. I’ll cover exactly what resolution is, and also how much of it you require for top quality prints, within this short article. If you do need to publish the picture at a larger size, then you will want to expand it by adding more pixels. To open it, go up to the Picture menu in the Menu Bar and select Image Size: Moving into Image > Image Size. In Photoshop CC, the Image Size dialogue box features a preview window to your left side, and alternatives for viewing and altering the picture size on the right. Finding a bigger image preview the very first thing you will want to do will increase the size of the trailer window, and you can do that by making the Image Size dialog box bigger. Simply drag the dialogue box to the upper left of the display, then drag its bottom right corner out.
