Here is the first photo I will be using: Here is the way the black & white version would seem if I simply desaturate it. Not really all that interesting: Desaturating a picture removes the colours but usually generates dead black and whites. And here’s the more”stunning” black & white version we’ll be creating within this tutorial, bringing considerably more emphasis to her face and hairStep 1: Locate The Channel With The Best Tonal Range The first thing we are likely to do is inspect our three Color Channels to determine which one contains the maximum quality image with the greatest quantity of comparison. We’re likely to use it as our black and white version. To do so, change to the Channels palette (it is grouped in with the Layers palette). You will see three channels called”Red”,”Green” and”Blue” (you will also see a fourth one,”RGB” in the very top, but it is only the composite of the Red, Green and Blue channels): Photoshop’s”Stations” palette revealing that the Red, Green and Blue channels, plus the composite RGB at the top. Click each of the Red, Green and Blue channels to pick them individually. When you click one, you’re turn the black and white photoshop actions others off, and all you’ll see on your file window is really a black and white version of the image. Every one of the three channels will have a unique black and white edition, so look at all three of these and select the one that looks best. In my case, the Green station looks best, so I’m going to use that one. As soon as you’ve selected the channel to use, press Ctrl+A (Win) / Command+A (Mac) to select it, then press Ctrl+C (Acquire ) / Command+C (Mac) to copy it. Click the RGB composite channel to turn all the stations forth. Your picture will appear in full colour once again from the Document Window. Step 2: Paste The Channel As A New Layer Switch back to your Layers palette and click on the New Layer icon at the bottom: Click the”New Layer” icon in the bottom of the Layers palette. This will incorporate a new blank layer above your Desktop layer. With the new layer selected, press Ctrl+V (Acquire ) / Control +V (Mac) to paste the station on the new coating: Press”Ctrl+V” (Win) /”Control +V” (Mac) to paste the station to the layer. Measure 3: Sharpen The Black & White Layer Using the new layer selected from the Layers palette, go up to the Filter menu at the top of the screen, choose Sharpen and then select Smart Sharpen
